What is CLINICAL Pilates...?

'Pilates' as a form of exercise has been around for a long time. Perhaps you've tried a Pilates class before, either on mats on the floor, or on equipment? In a general Pilates class, usually everyone is doing the same exercise at the same time (with varying degrees of success!). You might have found that some of the exercises felt great! Yet others, your body didn't seem to enjoy; something didn't feel quite right. This is quite typical in a 'general' Pilates class.

Clinical Pilates is a form of rehabilitation, and is taught by university qualified health professionals, such as physiotherapists, osteopaths, and exercise physiologists, who have undergone specialised Pilates training.

In Clinical Pilates, you first get an individual assessment, looking at your muscle control, flexibility, posture, and the way that you move. The assessment looks for any issues or imbalances in these areas, and determines ways to correct them, usually via exercise. We use our training in biomechanics, anatomy, and physiology to decide which particular exercises suit your body. So when you are given your Clinical Pilates program, the exercises you see have been put there to target key areas for your body. By targeting your body and your issues, you get a much more effective 'workout', and you avoid any unnecessary aches and pains.

At bodyBEgood, we make sure every Clinical Pilates class is a challenge, and we guarantee you will leave feeling like you've worked hard, but you've worked smart too!
